Così Fan Tutte
2012 Dorset Corset Theatre Company presented a fully staged brand new production of Mozart’s sparkling comic opera at the historic Shelley Theatre in Boscombe.
In a chic but faded nightclub in 1940s war torn Naples two young men accept a bet from the cynical landlord that he can prove their fiancées unfaithful. To win the bet, they agree to do everything he tells them…
This is a cautionary tale about the unwise testing of the boundaries of fidelity and love, told in theatmospheric surroundings of the beautiful Shelley Theatre, transformed into decadent 1940s Naples and performed by a company of international opera singers.
Special thanks to the overwhelming support of a Dorset based company, Arts Council England, Arts Bournemouth, The Fenton Arts Trust and the Wishford Foundation.
The opera is just under three hours long including an interval, sung in its original Italian and accompanied by a piano quintet. The set was designed by Arts University College Bournemouth graduate Deborah Wrighton and is musically directed by Kelvin Lim and directed by Dorset Corset’s Helen Davis.
The production also included a chorus of Actors/Dancers from Dorset aged 18-25 who have an interest in persuing a career in the Performing Arts. This was sponsored by the Winship foundation.
